We explored Buck Prairie II today for the first time. And explore is the right word. We did not confine ourselves to the suggested trails but headed off trail multiple times as you can see below in comparing our red track with the blue Buck Prairie II winter trails. Not all of our exploring was intentional, some at least, was due to our inability to follow the blue blazes at various points.
In most places there was 2" to 3" of soft snow along the broken trail areas and up to 6" in places off-trail. Buck Prairie II is a nice walk through the woods with only a few view points down into the Rogue Valley. But lots of territory to explore along the old logging roads.
Weather today was heavy overcast with temperatures in the mid-30s.
We were able to find refreshment at Omar's where we enjoyed calamari, garlic fries and outstanding onion rings.
